GENFIT’s R&D programs are organized around 5 major themes:

• GFT505, GENFIT’s leading proprietary drug candidate, which is currently in Phase II clinical trials.
• Two biomarker programs in atherosclerosis and Type 2 diabetes, in partnership with other biotechnology societies and numerous academic centers via international research consortia.
• The discovery of new therapeutic targets in diabetes. This work within a research consortium is based on major longitudinal clinical cohorts, with a focus on pancreatic b-cell dysfunction that is responsible for the progressive onset of the disease.
• Circadian rhythms and their link with cardiometabolic diseases. Two nuclear receptors are being targeted and are currently in the “hit-to-lead” research phase.
• Research for third parties, mainly in the context of two historical industrial alliances with SANOFI-AVENTIS and LABORATOIRES SERVIER, but also within more short-term “service contracts” for other industrial partners.
