Professor Arnold von Eckardstein

Professor Arnold von Eckardstein, MD, is currently Professor of Clinical Chemistry at the University of Zurich and Director of the Institute of Clinical Chemistry of the University Hospital of Zurich. He is also Docent at the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology (ETH) Zurich.

His main research interests include risk factors, biomarkers and pathogenesis of cardiovascular diseases, regulation and function of lipoproteins, especially high density lipoproteins (HDL), and cellular lipid homeostasis. He has published about 200 original and review articles in international scientific journals.

Arnold von Eckardstein is Fellow of the American Heart Association (Council on Arteriosclerosis) and Distinguished Fellow of the International Atherosclerosis Society. He is the Chairman of the European Lipoprotein Club and the Swiss Society of Clinical Chemistry, Past President of the German Society of Arteriosclerosis Research and Designated President of the Swiss Atherosclerosis Society. He serves as editorial board member of ATVB, Atherosclerosis, Journal of Lipid Research and Clinical Chemistry and Laboratory Medicine.
